New Hampshire is still a considerably free state, especially when compared to other states, and even more so when compared to it’s neighbor states. But some newly elected New Hampshire progressives have identified the root of all evil in New Hampshire. The Free State Project is a program that encourages like minded people to all move to one place, New Hampshire, in order to create a place for personal liberty. A newly elected state representative from New Hampshire Cynthia Chase believes that “free staters are the single biggest threat the state is facing today”. Her progressive solution, according to a New Hampshire publication called Free Keene, is as follows.
In this country you can move anywhere you choose and they have that same right. What we can do is to make the environment here so unwelcoming that some will choose not to come, and some may actually leave. One way is to pass measures that will restrict the ‘freedoms’ that they think they will find here.
Where to start. Yes, Cynthia, in this country you can move anywhere you choose, and it is not the government’s role to try to make a particular place unattractive to a particular group of people. See, it is only certain groups which we are allowed to hate and discriminate against these days; gun owners, sovereign citizens, Tea Party-ers, and Free Staters to name a few. It is taken as a given that if you want to progress society, you should hate these people, alienate them, not listen to their ideas, and generally keep them as far away from you as possible. Presumably their ideas have a spell-like quality which overtakes it’s victims–I believe it’s called logic.
So Cynthia Chase has decided that if people are moving to New Hampshire to be free, all New Hampshire has to do is take away those freedoms, and those undesirables won’t want to come anymore. Someone so devoted to the progressive cause, one might think, would be all inclusive, anti-bigotry, and far from xenophobic, yet Chase has quite obviously proven that wrong. If you disagree with her, then you have no right to live in New Hampshire. God forbid an American in this day and age believe in American values of individual freedom, the right to pursue happiness, and the right to protect oneself and loved ones. Maybe if New Hampshire bans the bill of rights it will successfully “restrict the ‘freedoms'” that people are looking for, and Cynthia will get her wish.
The double standard never ceases to amaze me. Coexist–unless you’re conservative, pro-second amendment, think taxes are too high, don’t want to pass enormous debts to your children, or believe in God. It is just depressing to see a woman like this get elected in New Hampshire. People who love freedom are moving to New Hampshire because it is one of the last places left on earth where you can live your life relatively free of hassle from the government. But with people like Cynthia Chase being elected, this freedom will be taken away, so that she and her buddies can live in what they imagine as a progressive utopian heaven on earth. They are delusional, and the hell on earth they create will make us all wish for places like New Hampshire once was.
